The Laker Fund

The Laker Fund is SEF’s most versatile resource.  As an unrestricted fund, it allows us to support programs and grants across all grade levels and academic disciplines. This flexibility is what makes the Laker Fund an essential tool for meeting the diverse needs of our students, teachers, and schools.

Our Laker Fund is dedicated to grants for K-12 that focus on programs, projects and professional development in STEM, literacy, social studies and fine arts.

  • Learning to Fly: Drones Operations Course

    • SEF provided the funds to offer a brand-new elective course at the High School by purchasing several high-quality drones that would increase student engagement and participation in STEM programming.

  • Solar Energy Panel:

    • SEF provided funds for the Solar Energy Club at the High School to purchase a solar energy kit to research how solar panels function and how they can benefit our environment. This kit will serve as a starting point for club members’ authentic exploration of solar energy, with more substantial kits and/or components available in the future.

  • STEM Erosion Table:

    • In 2nd grade, students learn about the Earth's complex systems and an erosion table brings to life these findings.

  • Clearer Vision: Enhancing Field Ecology and Ornithology Studies

    • SEF is providing high-quality binoculars for high school students to enhance field ecology and ornithology studies. The acquisition of high-quality optics will serve as a transformative bridge between classroom theory and the living laboratory of our landscape. These tools allow students to witness the intricate details of avian anatomy and behavior—the very "evidence" required for our Ecology units and competitive Envirothon training.
